Easy access - hassle free Finlandia

Mass ski events are an excellent way to do sports, but also an opportunity to travel and see the world. Winter sport enthusiasts can take part in Finlandia Ski Marathon from all around the world, and in addition to flying, the trip can be made more ecologically by ferry from several European cities. The popular ferry boats transport travelers for example from Tallinn and Stockholm to the heart of Helsinki, from where the train trip to Helsinki takes only an hour.

After arriving in Lahti, the travelers can walk to the city centre, which offers excellent accommodation options, like Solo Sokos Hotel Seurahuone, which is also a cooperation partner of Finlandia Ski Marathon. Also, Lahti Ski Centre, the starting area of Finlandia Ski Marathon, is located just next to the city centre. Public transport takes visitors easily and ecologically to nature and culture destinations outside the city centre. If necessary, cars are also easy to get. The city has both free and chargeable parking spots right near the Sports Centre. The cars used in carsharing are electric cars, so you can enjoy riding carbon neutral vehicles.

If one wants to arrive in Finland by plane, the flight to Helsinki Airport is only a couple hours from many European cities. On top of that, the train or bus ride directly from the airport to Lahti lasts only about an hour. The airport has been renewed so that the security control goes smoothly, and the check-in areas, bag drop, currency exchange and security control are located in the departures hall, which presents Finnish design. Also, the airport provides many other services from restaurants to a pharmacy and souvenir shops.

Traveling to Finlandia Ski Marathon can be done with the environment in mind, and also the city of Lahti as well as the municipality of Hollola have been pioneers of green transition. Lahti is the European Green Capital of 2021, on top of which it has an ambitious goal to be carbon neutral in 2025 - 10 years earlier than the rest of Finland and 25 years earlier than the European Union. As much as 99% of household waste is recovered, and the use of coal has been abandoned. Also, the city wants to invest in sustainable modes of transport, such as cycling and public transport. Nature is actively being conserved by taking care of the water bodies and conservation areas. During the busy winter sports season, the journey to Finlandia Ski Marathon can be made hassle-free and ecologically - simultaneously, travelers have the chance to get to know the local life.
